Reality can be hard to believe at times. F L A M I N G O N E is the living proof – a creature so unbelievable that it passed as AI. There's more: even for the most elastic imagination, it'd be quite a stretch from that whale of an idea to the viral reality of winning an AI contest with a real photo. But that happened. A plot twist in my professional life making my wildest dreams look tame. But what happened in my personal life at the time, is something I never saw coming. And that happened too.

And here are some things you didn't hear from me: a German TV show, a French documentary, a Canadian podcast, a permanent collection in Europe, a book for high school students in Brazil, an app for high schoolers in the US, an academic paper, and a creative ad campaign.

Sharing a wavelength but surfing it with completely different techniques, AI-pioneer Boris Eldagsen and I are touring podcasts together. The first one just aired, hosted by B&H Photography. We're discussing how to write the narrative around AI before the machine writes it for us. Give it a listen and you'll get the picture.

business and pleasure

When you get to travel the world for a living, that airport classic "business or pleasure?" becomes somewhat of a trick question. Business is pleasure to me, even though I would never call what I do either of those words. Over the last couple of weeks, I put the pedal to the metal and accelerated my slooooow 12-year journey to turbo-travel-level. About a dozen professional and personal meetings across NY, DC, London, and Paris have left me with whiplash, but it doesn't hurt at all.

what's next is none of my concern

Until recently, my life had a plot. One narrative headed for a future that was more firm than malleable. Funny how this future now turned past without ever passing through the present. I'm starting over with all sorts of plots protruding from my toe-tips, but I won't choose any path for now. Instead, I'll take it day by day, just like my baby nephew. Trusting that doing the right thing, right here, right now, will pave the right way.

So long,

Miles
